The mention of the words ‘geometry’ and ‘angles’ may bring back memories of dry trigonometry issues back in high school - something we aren’t particularly fond of – but fast forward a few years and it inspires an entire fashion line that we are clamouring to get our hands on.
Rani Jones, London’s coolest new eco label, has just launched their Spring/Summer 2009 ‘Block’ collection, and boy are we excited! Design duo Rani Patel and Lucy Jones translate blocky, hard-edged and repetitive angles commonly found in Brutalist architecture and recreate them into figure-loving lines that echo throughout their beautifully constructed garments.
Think body-con blended with volume, pleated draping, double-zipping and panelling. Pops of green and bright orange set against a neutral colour palette keeps the look modern and edgy yet wearable and whole-heartedly feminine.
And their hard-line approach doesn’t stop with design, the extensive use of the softest organic cottons and ethically produced merino wool with a smattering of eco leather means we can lap up the luxe without the guilt. In fact, 74.9% (to be precise!) of the collection is made up from organic, sustainably sourced and eco-friendly materials.
Mmmm, ethics + style? Liking your angle girls.
