Hurrah for Hepburn! Selected by the ever-powerful grande fromages at the British Fashion Council, ethical fashion designer Minna Hepburn has just been signed up to their coveted mentoring programme. Her mentor? None other than the creative director of Liberty, Yasmine Sewell, who will act as her Obi Wan to Minna’s Luke Skywalker, if you will.
Not bad for a Finnish girl who started out in deepest Dorset, rummaging in antiques fairs and collecting vast arrays of vintage lace, brooches and buttons to whip up into one-off creations to sell under her own-name label ‘Minna’.
With a big nod to all matters environmental, Minna cuts quite the natty dash with SKAL certified organic fabrics mixed up with fair trade and recycled materials. Waste not, want not so goes the motto, as even garment remnants are picked up and used to garnish the clothing, wrapped delicately around buttons and magicically transformed into brooches.
With such romance and eco-fabulousness, it’s no wonder her whimsical wisps of clothing are gaining such recognition...
