Trawling around the Sunday markets is definitely the preserve of the young and trendy and there's none better than Sunday Upmarket at the Truman Brewery on Brick Lane.

Freezing as we were, a particular little company caught our eye. Made With Hands is run by twin sisters Celliste and Carissa Yeboah, who for the past three years, have been creating hand-made accessories that are knitted, crocheted or felted. Made from pure English wool, recycled saris or recycled cotton, these items are as good as they are warm. We've actually developed quite a fondness for their snugly neck warmers!

But for when summer does eventually arrive, we've just been given the perfect footwear courtesy of a friend from the States bearing gifts. Tom's Shoes is a year old venture run by Blake Mycoskie whose one and only design is based on a classic, unisex argentine shoe.

Men's, women's and kid's sizes are available in a whole array of colours and patterns - including a limited edition design (with a 6 week waiting list, may we add!) which have been hand painted by artist Tyler Ramsey. And although, this isn't really an eco brand using green materials, they do have a very generous heart and for every pair of Tom's' you buy, they'll give a pair to a child in need.
